Whether you have warrior stripes from a pregnancy or you’ve simply developed pesky stretch marks over the years, we have serious solutions so you don’t have to feel stuck with them! We got the scoop from skin expert, Shiki Zubaili a herbalist and aesthetic specialist in South Africa. He has plenty of zam herbal products for us.
Stretch marks can’t always be prevented, but staying hydrated, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating foods rich in vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, and zinc will help. According to Shiki, we’re more susceptible to getting stretch marks when our skin is dry or stretching quickly, like when we gain weight rapidly or during pregnancy.
To help minimize the appearance of stretch marks that you already have, Shiki has the products for all skin tones: “The fresher and more red the stretch marks are, the more effective lasers, such as Fraxel (which is FDA cleared to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks) can be,” he says. “When existing stretch marks are old and white, you can consider zam herbal gel (which is permanent makeup using medical camouflaging tattoos) to make the white stretch marks blend better with the surrounding skin. If existing stretch marks are older and dark or brown in color, you can consider using zam bleaching cream or lightening cream to help lighten them up.”
Who knew there were so many creative solutions to different kinds of stretch marks? If you’re not willing to drop some cash on pricey treatment options, Shik has some great news: “If you have older existing stretch marks, lasers can still sometimes help minimize them. However, more time and home products can sometimes help just as much.”
Home products can still prove to be effective in minimizing the appearance of stretch marks. So, which products are the best? And how do we get our hands on them? Listen up:
